Town Hall Calls On Communicators to Redefine Leadership in the AI Era

Amid the energy of Communications Week, CommPRO will host a virtual Communications Town Hall on November 12, inviting communications and PR executives to engage in an unfiltered, forward-looking discussion about the state of the industry.

Designed as an interactive forum, not a panel or presentation, the Town Hall will bring together leading voices in corporate communications, media relations, social media, and AI strategy for an open exchange under the Chatham House Rule, ensuring candid dialogue and genuine insight.

“The communications profession is in a period of accelerated change,” said Fay Shapiro, publisher of CommPRO. “AI, authenticity, and accountability are colliding in ways that redefine our role as communicators. The leaders who will thrive are the ones who see this as transformation, not disruption.”

The session will explore the key forces reshaping the communications landscape in 2025—from the tension between automation and authenticity to the urgent need to rebuild trust in institutions and information. Participants will be encouraged to wrestle with the question: how do communicators balance purpose, persuasion, and truth in an era of intelligent machines and polarized audiences?

Central provocation for the Town Hall: “If AI can communicate faster and more persuasively than we can—what remains distinctly human about our role as communicators?”

This provocation will set the tone for the discussion, pushing communicators to consider their evolving purpose in a world where influence is increasingly algorithmic, and credibility is harder than ever to earn.

CommPRO’s Town Hall continues its mission of fostering authentic, high-impact dialogue across the profession. With a network of more than 50,000 professionals spanning PR, marketing, investor relations, and corporate communications, CommPRO remains the industry’s hub for insight, innovation, and integrity.
