Ruder Finn Expands Southeast Asia Reach with Acquisition of Era Communications

Ruder Finn, an independent global communications and integrated marketing firm, has expanded its footprint in Southeast Asia with the acquisition of Era Communications, a regional strategic communications consultancy based in ASEAN. The move adds direct operations in Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar, complementing Ruder Finn’s existing presence in Singapore and Malaysia.

The acquisition strengthens Ruder Finn’s regional infrastructure and client service capabilities, particularly in fast-growing emerging markets where local context plays a critical role in campaign success. Founded in 2015, Era Communications is known for work across reputation management, branding, digital, and social impact initiatives. It has earned multiple regional and global accolades, including Southeast Asia PR Campaign of the Year honors and several PRovoke and Campaign PR Awards.

With approximately 90 professionals, Era Communications will now operate as Ruder Finn Era. The integration reflects Ruder Finn’s broader strategy to deliver locally relevant, tech-enabled communications through a combination of regional insights and global standards.

“Expansion in the Asia-Pacific region is an integral part of our global growth strategy,” said Ruder Finn CEO Kathy Bloomgarden. “Welcoming Era Communications builds on our presence in the region and strengthens our ability to deliver tailored, results-driven solutions grounded in deep local knowledge.”

Anthony Larmon, Managing Director of Era Communications, emphasized the value of joining a firm with broader capabilities in technology and AI. “This partnership with Ruder Finn lets us use its global leadership to deliver creativity, strategy and value to clients across our vibrant region,” he said, highlighting the firm’s tech-forward initiatives, such as its AI Advisory Council and rf.TechLab.

The acquisition follows a series of investments by Ruder Finn in emerging technology and data tools. In 2024, the firm was recognized as Best Agency in Asia-Pacific by PRWeek Global Awards, underscoring its push into innovation-led communications.

Elan Shou, Global Chief Growth Officer and Managing Director of Ruder Finn Asia, noted that Era’s local expertise strengthens the firm’s ability to connect brands with audiences through authentic storytelling and market-sensitive strategies.
