Mr. Magazine™ Talks With Emon Hassan, Founder and Publisher of emonome Zine
Creating Cinema and Movies in Print
What happens when a photographer and filmmaker decides to bring the feeling of cinema to the printed page?
For Emon Hassan, founder and publisher of emonome Zine, the answer is a publication built around photography, movies, storytelling and the experience of holding something tangible in your hands.
In his latest Mr. Magazine™ interview, Samir “Mr. Magazine™” Husni talks with Hassan about the inspiration behind emonome Zine, why she chose print at a time when so much media is consumed on screens, and how her background as a photographer and filmmaker shaped the publication.
Hassan sees the magazine as more than a collection of photographs. Each issue is conceived with the pacing and visual language of a film, giving readers an experience that unfolds from page to page.
The conversation also explores the creative freedom of independent publishing, the relationship between photography and cinema, and why print continues to offer something digital media cannot fully replicate.
For Hassan, creating emonome Zine is ultimately about storytelling and giving readers the opportunity to slow down, look closely and experience images in a different way.
It is also another example of what Husni has documented throughout his career: print is not simply surviving alongside digital media. Independent publishers continue to find new reasons to create it and new ways to make the physical magazine part of the story itself.
