Who’s at Fault?

Having breakfast one steamy hot summer morning outside, I couldn’t help looking up from my oats to the source of my discomfort.

The blistering sun was pouring down such intense, almost wrathful heat so early.

“Stop overdoing it,” I impulsively scolded the sun.

Then I quickly realized it was partly the fault of We the people for underdoing it, at times thoughtlessly or selfishly, but always foolishly.

So, we hold these truths to be self-evident that we, all of us, are to blame . . .

For not waking up earlier to the reality of climate change staring us right in our sunburned faces.

For not reducing fossil fuel emissions faster.

For not covering our roofs with solar panels to convert the sun’s morning greetings into cleaner electrical power?

Sorry sun.  My perspiring is not all your fault.

We need to stop blaming you and start looking at ourselves as the cause of our misery from planet’s rising temperatures.

We the people are at fault for not waking up earlier.   Much earlier!

Tom Madden and his friends, like attorney Peter Ticktin, founder of The Global Warming Foundation, think a lot about climate change these days when they’re not writing books like Madden’s latest WORDSHINE MAN or Ticktin’s WHAT MAKES TRUMP TICK or Ticktin’s arguing in court on behalf of a man beaten for handing out Republican brochures in a stormy Democrat neighborhood in Miami Dade.
