Pre-Interview research is essential.  One of the best ways to impress an interviewer is to ask insightful questions about the company.  To do this, you need to know as much about a prospective employer as possible.  While a company’s web page will give you some details, you can also try:

Social Media/Blogs – Company blogs will give you insight into their culture and what new things they are doing.  Social media sites like the company’s Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram accounts will show you the newest announcements, products and any new topics they are talking about.

Press Releases – Current press releases will help you learn about new projects, clients, community involvement, new hires etc.

Try Quora – Quora, www.quora.com, is a site that let’s you ask questions.  You can ask what a company does, what their products are, what it is like to work there.  Give it a try.

Ask Your Contacts – Reach out to people you know, search LinkedIn.  If you find someone you know with a connection to the company, reach out and find out as much as you can.

Research to impress!
