March United for Public SchoolsCommPRO Editorial Staff

Attention brand managers, communications officers and CSR officials, CommPRO is now an official media sponsor of MARCH UNITED FOR PUBLIC SCHOOLS and we are assisting the United Way of New York City (UWNYC). There are multiple opportunities with tremendous brand exposure.

A bit about the campaign…

Sunday, June 2, 2019, the United Way of New York City + the Department of Education will be hosting an advocacy march in support of public education (think walk-a-thon). It begins in lower Manhattan, crosses the Brooklyn Bridge and concludes with a k-12 family festival at Borough Hall, Brooklyn.

The festival will include a bubble garden by BubbleWorks, a winter playground (think snow in June), an inflatable slide (representing the summer educational slide), a gallery tent featuring the best student art from around the city, a main stage featuring student performers, and a pop up shopping area where we will showcase small / minority owned businesses. Additionally, UWNYC will have a story time tent where all the major publishing houses are sending authors to read. TODAY SHOW Willie (+ Christina) Geist have offered to read at the story time tent.  The TODAY / NBC is in discussions to be a media sponsor with an announcement soon to be made.

That same morning, prior to the march kick-off, UWNYC will be hosting a 200 person Teachers’ Awards breakfast honoring NYC teachers. Teacher’s will be nominated and voting promoted. All sponsors get to name + present an award.

The UWNYC expects 10,000 people to participate in the march – a mix of parents, students + teachers as well as thousands of corporate employees marching together to raise money and show their support. Will your company start a team? There is no minimum fundraising goal so everyone is welcome to participate.

Scholastic, MadeGood, + ABC Mouse are official sponsors with more soon to be announced. The Children’s Book Council, the NY Jets + the NY Giants are community partners with others soon to be named.
