Events have an unprecedented opportunity as the central location for product and service news, to create not only a lead generating ecosystem but an e-commerce driven one as well. Consumers, professionals and media come to shows to find out news of the new, so if events can harness that energy to create buzz and interest before, during and after the show, then their influence expends beyond just a moment in time. I believe that the most opportunistic and transformative aspect of the “event” news environment is taking advantage of new forms of direct communications, collaboration, new analytic tools and sources of additional and supportive rich media data, and new ways of communicating what matters to their customers both on premises and long after the event ends!
theCOMMSapp welcomes you to our Mobile Comms and IR Channel. Mobile usage has reached record levels and continues to change the way information is consumed, shared and engaged with on a daily basis. Having a mobile communications strategy is no longer a ‘nice to have’ option; it is a necessary part of any communications program. Just as companies have developed digital-specific strategies for desktop computers, with the proliferation of mobile devices, so too must they consider the same for the mobile device.
To help keep a pulse on the latest trends in 21st Century communications, the Mobile Comms and IR Channel will bring you interesting insights on how mobile is impacting various sectors of the communications industry – from investor relations to internal communications to general corporate communications. We aim to provide you with important information on mobile trends and strategies to keep you up to date as you formulate your organization’s communication plan.
Welcome to Image and Innovation
For more than 100 years, Universal Information Services has been innovative in how we collect and evaluate news media. Our counsel to clients has always suggested that it is far better to take change by the hand before it grabs you by the throat (thanks to Winston Churchill for that line).
Today, the media channels we live with all have the ability to directly impact our personal, corporate, or geographical image. With our news monitoring and PR evaluation tools, Universal can see the hills and valleys organizations must manage on a daily basis. Social media stories break and lead to widespread dissemination by traditional media. Traditional media uses their deep resources for longer form or in-depth stories, which then are amplified through Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and more. Media innovations since 2006 have brought image management to the forefront of public relations, marketing, sales… and now they all must work together.
Please don’t mistake my thoughts on innovation to mean that we are now at an out-with-the-old crossroads. In fact, we see quite the contrary at my company. Through our#samerules #newtools blog we show that although we have great new communication tools to engage and generate content (exploring ever deeper and richer demographics) the fundamentals of communication have not changed. Poor writing still looks bad whether in a newspaper or in a Tweet. Human behavior can be modified, but human nature is much harder to overcome.
We hope our Image and Innovation Channel on commPRO.BIZ will help you gain insight on how the media can truly impact your image. Good or bad, understanding the correlations between local, regional, and global news events is one of the most powerful influences on your public brand. Thank you for reading and please send us your comments.
I’m excited that you clicked on our channel that will feature expert discussions and insider tips from The PR Epicenter, the weekly web series about understanding why timing is everything for your brand!
This email is longer than most I’ll be sending out (promise!) but I think you will enjoy it. Oh, and super important: make sure you “white list” this email address so nothing gets sent to the dreaded junk folder. Now here is a really cool and (hopefully) quick-ish story about why I’ve started a web show called The PR Epicenter.

The world is experiencing a critical leadership gap. Aging populations (baby boomers) worldwide are moving away from many job sectors permanently. Lack of skilled leadership is pervasive, regardless of gender, with not enough people to take over from the baby boomer generation in a newly hyper-connected world. Action must be taken now.
The Global Women’s Leadership and Collaboration Channel was created by IMPACT Leadership 21 to discuss these issues and provide powerful insights to navigate these challenging times. The Global Women’s Leadership and Collaboration Channel brings riveting dialogue and breakthrough strategies, equipping our audience with the knowledge to be ahead of the curve and be successful.

Welcome to the PRketing® Channel
The philosophy behind PRketing® is that when we do public relations or content creation, we want to make sure that we’re actually achieving client goals; that we’re creating positive business outcomes for the organizations that we partner with. Given that consumers don’t want to be sold to and they’re choosing to opt in, what we’re seeing is that for content marketing to be effective it has to become PRketing®.

What is Social Video? (CLICK HERE to learn more about it.)
The evolution of the Internet can be categorized in four phases:
Connectivity: First, we all had to be connected. Two billion Internet users later - we’ve connected.
Commerce: Then, we realized someone’s gotta pay for this party – we’ve got business models.
Community: Next, we assembled on social networking sites. 800 million Facebook accounts and counting - we’ve gathered.
Content: Now, the focus is on content. Find it, watch it, share it, Tweet it and Like it (or not) – we’ve created a beast and need to feed it or the connections, community and commerce will all go away. Social Media is hot, growing fast and driving it.
