HARO Founder Peter Shankman: "Take That First Meeting!"
“Take that 1st meeting,” counsels Peter Shankman, just before introducing us to his “wonder cat.”
Fun, provocative, personable advice to be sure … and typical of Shankman, who Investor’s Business Daily has called “crazy, but effective.” A successful example of what happens when you merge pure creativity with ADHD and a dose of adventure, Peter is recognized for new ways of thinking about social media, PR, marketing, advertising, and customer service. He’s best known for founding Help A Reporter Out, (HARO). In June of 2010, less than two years after Peter started HARO, it was acquired by Vocus, Inc. Peter is now VP and Small Business Evangelist for Vocus, working out of NYC. He is also the founder and CEO of The Geek Factory, Inc., a boutique social media, marketing and PR strategy firm located in New York City. His blog, which he launched in 1995 at http://shankman.com, comments on and generates news and conversation.
Fun fact: In 2011, Peter was the author of a Tweet that was voted as one of the Top Ten Tweets of the year by Twitter, out of 140,000,000,000+ tweets.
