Guess who’s back?
Well not quite “Shady” and with all due apologies to the original, I have returned with a new column / blog entitled, “Gene Marbach at Large.” Given my size, I was going to go with “Extra Large,” but was talked out of it.
During my brief hiatus, I learned that my four or five readers missed me. I missed them, too. I greatly missed writing and working with a deadline (it is amazing how quickly you can come up with 500 words as the clock ticks down).
Was I born to do this? Maybe. I began my career back in the Mesozoic Era as a reporter for a marketing / advertising newsletter, The Gallagher Report. Also, a fortuneteller once told me that I was destined to be a commentator… Ergo, the creation of “Gene Marbach at Large.” In the space kindly allocated to me by the fine folks at CommPro, I will attempt to analyze, editorialize, chastise, catalyze, hypnotize, surprise, surmise, and apprise (dig the rhyming in keeping with our Rap music theme).
My focus will be communications and business-related topics with insights informed by my more than 30 years experience in investor relations and corporate communications, most recently as Group Vice President at Makovsky + Company. I would like to encourage readers to think a little differently. The topics I choose are things of interest to communications professionals and I’ll try to deal with them the way most people would, sometimes seriously, sometimes with a sense of humor.
