Session Recap: Here’s What You Missed With Edelman and comScore

Thanks to all those who participated in Tuesday’s Google Hangout session featuring Edelman’s Steve Rubel, comScore’s Eli Goodman and Critical Mention’s Dave Armon . These industry leaders focused on exploring the technologies, platforms and marketing strategies used in this year’s Olympic Games, which reached billions of people globally.

Rubel directed his expert advice and thought leadership on the relationship between TV and social media. He proclaimed television to be the foundation to integrated marketing efforts today, which is ever-growing thanks to the support of social channels.

Incorporating four screens, Goodman provided insights into emerging technologies, device and usage statistics, and the importance of premium content. Goodman’s message was clear: pay attention to all screens in an integrated marketing plan. His belief that “not all devices are created equal” reinforces his idea that marketers must continue to respect the different ways in which consumers use devices throughout the day.

To recap the social media usage of the Games, Armon pointed out the social platform broadcast mentions during the 16-day event:

  • Twitter – 3,936
  • Facebook – 3,185
  • Instagram – 80
  • Pinterest – 20
