Job Description

Fab’s mission is to help people better their lives with design. More than 7.5 million people around the world use Fab to discover everyday design products at great prices, to connect with the world’s most exciting designers, and to share their favorite design inspirations.

Fab is looking to hire a Global SVP Communications responsible for developing and leading all communications and public relations strategies and activities, including overseeing all external company communications; national and international consumer, trade and tech/digital media; as well as overall implementation of communications plans, initiatives and programs that help advance the company’s business and reputation.  

This leader should be well respected, incredibly strategic and be able to tell the story to consumers, designers and the broader community.  They should be particularly strong with consumer press and help to grow and shape perceptions for the brand.  The role will report directly to the CMO and will spend significant time working with the CEO/Cofounders as well as across the entire company.  They will initially have three direct reports and must exude the company values and have the ability to “get sh*t done” and have humility.  

This individual must have the maturity and ability to analyze situations and present respective recommendations.  They must have the critical thinking skills to make judgments and act upon them.  Because of the company’s immense growth, the SVP, Corporate Communications should be able to establish discipline, systems and processes with respect to the communications function but still understand the flexibility to operate in a company that is blazing new trails.

Through close integration with the company’s marketing organization and in alignment with Fab’s overall business strategy, this position is responsible for enhancing the brand with merchants, global consumers, and media. This leader is an essential partner to business leaders providing strategic counsel on consumer and other initiatives and delivering measureable results with PR announcements and momentum campaigns.

This position will oversee the company’s global corporate communications function, leading a team of communications professionals (currently 3), as well as any agency resources, and be responsible for all communications including media relations, industry analyst relations, social networking strategy/programs, reputation management, crisis communications, public affairs communications and internal communications

In addition to the requisite experience and functional skills, the successful candidate for this role will have the following proven competencies:

Skills/Requirements

The successful candidate will be a strong Senior Communications Executive with broad experience.  Key performance and personal competencies include:

Requirements

  • Business executive and a world-class communications professional
  • This individual will have a minimum of 15 to 20 years of senior corporate communications experience in companies engaged in global, highly competitive market dynamics.
  • The candidate will have successfully led a successful communications function bringing broad based experience from a consumer-facing company
